Vale Harry Edwards
Sadly we mourn the passing of Harry Edwards. Harry was a life member of our Rovers football club since 1977. Harry was the club Treasurer during the late sixties and throughout a large part of the seventies. He also carried out several other committee duties. I got close to Harry when the club celebrated our 40th anniversary and I was researching our history. He and his wife June were invaluable; they actually volunteered to rustle up loads of memorabilia and put on an exhibition at the Community Hall on Grand Final Day Saturday in 2004. They sought the assistance of Mavis Johnston to put the whole thing together. The stories they told me were enough to give me the insight I needed to put our history pages together which was expanded for our all important 50th anniversary. I must say that Harry seemed more proud of his wife Junes’ achievements than his own. June was a member of the all important “Mother’s Club”. This club ran the canteen, the social events and the fund raising. It was back in the days when women didn’t sit on the committee as that was “men’s work”. They got to do all the important work of actually running things. This is the sad passing of a really nice man who gave a big contribution to this now famous club. My good friends Barry and Caroline Brown have the most fond memories of Harry because they have shared the backyard fence with him since Harry and June moved into National Ave Loftus in December 1966. Barry and Caroline are also club stalwarts. Harry’s Funeral will be held on Tuesday 19th April at the South Chapel Woronora Cemetery at 10AM. Vale Harry Edwards.

Vale Richard Robinson
Richard Robinson lost his battle with cancer this week. Richard is the father of Annie who is one of the stars of the WSG side, Grandfather of Lorna who is one of the stars of the W16A side and Grandfather of Tyra who is one of the stars of the W12B side. Sister Kyra also played for many seasons for Rovers but has taken a rest this season. It was comforting to the family when the W16A’s took to the field today wearing black tape on their football shirt sleeve. With so many of his off-spring playing Richard and wife Grace were seen at the oval many times over the years following the stars. Richard was also my friend and neighbour. My neighbourhood will miss his good humour and friendly discussion. Richards’ funeral will be held on Tuesday 19th April at South Chapel Woronora Cemetery at 1PM. Our condolences go to Grace and the whole family. Vale Richard Robinson.

Hat Trick Corner
My first hat trick to record for the year was beauty. Anna McIntyre of the W14B side scored 4 in the teams second round win of 5-1. How good is that!

Some humour
A woman walked into the kitchen to find her husband stalking around with a fly swatter
‘What are you doing?’ She asked..
‘Hunting Flies’ He responded.
‘Oh. ! Killing any?’ She asked.
‘Yep, 3 males, 2 Females,’ he replied.
Intrigued, she asked. ‘How can you tell them apart?’
He responded,
‘3 were on a beer can, 2 were on the phone.’
There were no flies on this bloke. Boom boom!
